EMMA'S STORY
As a child it was as if everyone around me was gifted at sports and fitness but I wasn’t. Nonetheless, the importance of regular exercise and fitness was well and truly engrained in me from an early age, from those around me who I really looked up to. Thanks to this, I always made a point of committing to regular exercise throughout all the various career moves I had in my earlier adult years, which, for the record, included: university studies; travel; teaching English as a Foreign Language; teaching in UK secondary schools for a short stint and then I worked in careers guidance job roles for a number of years.
Throughout a lot of those years and job roles, it was my commitment to exercise that helped me get through the day, through the week. Whether it was cycling, running, swimming, gym, home-based callisthenics or even just plenty of walking, exercise was an absolute non-negotiable commitment of mine most days. Exercise made me feel good both mentally and physically. Ultimately I felt it was just a part of who I was.
Then in 2014, following the severe illness of a close family member and realising once again that I was not at one with the job role I was in, I turned the key careers guidance questions that I posed to clients onto myself: “What are your key values, interests and skills Emma? What is it in life that makes you tick Emma?”
With that, I packed my bags for the last time from the more metropolitan parts of the UK and headed back to the remote, stunning, rural corner of the UK that always has and always will be home. The Hartland to Bude area!
Within a few months I achieved my first Level 3 fitness qualifications. I started up my own circuit classes, and then found employment firstly in a gym and then with Healthy Cornwall as a Healthy Lifestyle Support Worker. After the welcomed arrival of my son, I trained and certified as a Health Coach where I became fascinated by the psychology behind habit and behaviour change and how I could apply this to support clients with weight-loss and fitness goals.
An opportunity for redundancy from Healthy Cornwall following the Covid pandemic, prompted me to take the plunge to go self-employed. I soon decided to include fitness and personal training as part of my new business venture alongside health coaching. However, before long I was running into challenges around the demands of running my own business alongside parenting and managing a household.
When I came across the MyFit30 franchise in December 2022 it seemed like a perfect solution for the situation I was in. A tried and tested business blueprint that would enable me to run fun, local fitness classes, enabling busy women like myself to get fit and get results while feeling part of a community with other like-minded ladies around them. After a few phone calls with Mike Beer, one of the co-founders of MyFit30, I got myself signed up. Having got through all the parts of the MyFit30 franchise academy, I’m now excited to be opening my doors to MyFit30 in Bude and surrounding area. I look forward to meeting you!
FINALLY! THE QUICKEST AND EASIEST WAY TO GET INTO THE SHAPE OF YOUR LIFE, EVEN IF YOU HATE THE GYM AND HAVE NO TIME!
